The Context

Mahabodhi Mahavidhyalaya (B.Ed.) has been a pioneer in adopting and using modern educational technologies to enrich the teaching-learning process. Use of information and communication technology (ICT) has played a pivotal role in empowering the teacher trainees in the use of modern-day information tools. It is our firm belief that the teacher trainees have not only to be trained in the skills of conventional classroom teaching but they have also to be trained in the use of modern educational technology, especially the use of ICT tools to improve the overall teaching-learning experience. This will help them to become the teachers of the 21st century in the real sense.

The Practice

The Centre for Educational Technology, established in 2015, plays a key role in planning, development and utilization of various systems of Educational Technology in the areas of teaching, learning, evaluation, feedback, testing and research. It provides support by integrating and utilizing latest technological innovations such as Google Classrooms, technology enabled classrooms, laptops, tablets and smart phones for enhancing and enriching teaching- learning process. Some of the innovative practices undertaken in the use of ICT, which have helped the college to enhance its quality are as follows:

Teaching-Learning

The college has introduced ICT-based subjects in B.Ed. The college has adopted Google Classroom for online teaching and has shifted to online platforms during the Covid-19 lockdown. Faculty members have computer-training and are knowledgeable about educational technology. Student teachers use ICT extensively in their teaching and learning situations. The college uses broadband internet facilities, online webinars, panel discussions, workshops, and MOOCS. Video recording of teaching practice sessions is used for feedback. Students are exposed to e-learning resources through library and ICT classes.

Evaluation

ICT plays a crucial role in the assessment and evaluation process at the college. Question papers are prepared and printed using modern software. Open book exams and online quizzes are conducted.

Gender Sensitisation and Empowerment of Women

Evaluation

The best practice aims to:-

1. Provide a safe and gender-friendly environment where both boys and girls, men and women coexist cohesively.
2. Lead to the sensitisation of both genders and empowerment of young women by providing them with strategies to attain sustainable goals for personal, professional, social and self-development.
3. Create further awareness and sensitisation by our students in their homes, communities, workplace and society as a whole as adults.
4. Create a gender-neutral society where individuality and meritocracy are the only parameters for progress and growth.

The Context

Ever since its inception in 2013, the College has been rendering valuable service for the emancipation and empowerment of women. The College community felt it essential to have a dedicated centre that would provide more opportunities for empowering women through gender-specific programmes. It started a centre of Women Development and Studies and showcased its activities through a quarterly newsletter “Nurture” which was supported by the UNICEF for the Anganwadi and other functionaries in Bihar.

The Practice

The College has organized gender sensitization programmes, capacity building workshops, extension and outreach programmes, counselling sessions and workshops for youth and women. It has established linkages between individuals and agencies at local, national, and international levels for networking, resource sharing, and collaboration for empowerment and development of women. Voicing concern about women and their rights viz-a-viz violence, exploitation, and harassment through wall magazines, poetic meets, advocacy campaigns, special lectures, interaction sessions, street plays and multi-media presentations highlight some of its achievements. The College is working not only for the protection of women’s rights but also addresses issues related to gender equality.
